From his speech at the Malayala Chalachithra Parishath’s Condolence Meeting, held to honour her memory.
കുമാരി സിനിമാ ജീവിതം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ച ദിവസവും, രംഗവും, അവസാനമെടുത്ത ഷോട്ടുമാണ് അവർ മരണമടഞ്ഞു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഓര്മയിലേക്കോടിയെത്തിയത്.
ചിത്രം ‘ സ്നാപകയോഹന്നാൻ‘. അവസാനത്തെ ഷോട്ട്. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ മുന്നിൽ മുട്ടുകുത്തിനിന്ന് ആ കണ്ണുകളിലേക്കു നോക്കി അവർ പറയുന്നു.
“അങ്ങ് സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ പാപിയായ എന്നെക്കൂടി ഓർമ്മിക്കണേ!”
ഞാൻ “ചേച്ചി” എന്നു വിളിച്ചിരുന്ന മലയാളത്തിന്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട നടി മരണമടഞ്ഞെന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഞാനും ആ വാക്കുകൾ ആവർത്തിക്കുകയാണ്.
“ചേച്ചീ, സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ പാപിയായ ഈ സഹോദരനെക്കൂടി ഓർമ്മിക്കണേ”
When I heard of her demise, the first thing I remembered was the last scene that she shot. The movie was ‘Snapaka Yohannan’ and the scene was where she is kneeling in front of Lord Jesus and praying thus: “When you are in Heaven, please remember this sinner also”.
As I bid goodbye to my dear sister, I repeat thus: “Sister, when you are in Heaven, please remember this brother of yours also”.
