Miss Kumari Foundation was established in 2019 as part of the commemoration of the life and works of Miss Kumari on her 50th death anniversary.

The foundation was inaugurated by renowned poet and lyricist Sri. Sreekumaran Thampi, who, together with Miss Kumari, has been one of the architects of Malayalam Cinema in its early years. The foundation wishes to take forward and realise the vision of Miss Kumari, as exemplified through her versatile fields of activities; in arts, particularly performing arts such as theater and film, education, as well as socio-political engagements.

The Foundation aims at promoting plastic arts (painting, sculpture), music and performing arts (theater, dance, film) in education. Promotion of art and aesthetic sensibility as an indispensable basis of formal education in schools and colleges is the main objective of the foundation through its various programmes. The revitalisation of aesthetic education in the formative years of girls and boys is certainly one of the most important needs of our times.

The foundation particularly supports the artistic and intellectual formation of girl students from the economically backward sections of our society in the course of their school and university education, and intends to create various events and platforms for performing arts such as theater groups and film societies for the development of artistic skills as well as forums for discussion and debate on issues in society and politics.

Miss Kumari Foundation was inaugurated on 20th May 2019 in Pala, Kerala. The organizational structure of the foundation emerged from various discussions prior to its inauguration. The office-bearers of the foundation include Dr. Cyriac Thomas (chairman), Sri. George Kulangara (vice chairman), Mr. Johny Thaliath (general secretary and treasurer), Dr. Babu Thaliath (secretary) and Mr. Babu K. ​​Thomas (secretary).

Miss Kumari Puraskaram 2019, awarded to Parvathy Thiruvothu

2019 Miss Kumari Puraskaram, an award instituted by the P. Bhaskaran Foundation and named after actress Miss Kumari to commemorate her illustrious career in early Malayalam film history, was presented to actress Parvathy Thiruvothu by renowned artist Namboothiri.
