Balya Sakhi (1954)
Childhood Friend
Release date : 23 December 1954
Balyasakhi & Snehaseema, released a week apart (Balyasakhi was in cinemas first) , had almost the same storyline ! Miss Kumari was Lakshmi, who was doted on by her two childhood friends, both of them who eventually fall in love with her. Steeped in melodramatic twists that finally culminate in a happy ending for the childhood friends, Balyasakhi was the natural winner the festive season box-office race. This was also the first Malayalam film that employed its dialogue snippets as publicity material to draw in the holiday crowd into its 52 centres of movie release.

Songs from the Movie
It was during the successful post-release period of “Balyasakhi” that I received one of the most scathing critiques on my style of acting in Mathrubhumi. It really affected me.
